SWEET MAGNOLIA

If you think of a Magnolia, it automatically brings thoughts of the South to mind....sunny days with the summer breeze just perfect enough to make the heat bearable & big barbeques with the whole family on Saturdays.  The uncles, each declaring that his BBQ was The best, and your Uncle Bob telling tall tales of the fish he caught last Sunday, complete with a can of Bush beer in hand; the aunts buzzing about the buffet-style table, catching up on all the gossip, although each would swear she doesn't gossip; the younger cousins playing under foot, while the older ones would sneak off to smoke, because back then smoking made you 'cool'.

Later, around the fire pit, just over your shoulder would creep the slightest breeze carrying the sweet smell of a Magnolia blossom...you'd tilt your head back, eyes closed, you'd take in as deep a breath as possible before it left as quickly as it came.

Fun Facts:

*Both Louisiana and Mississippi's State Flower's are the Magnolia.

*A Magnolia can grow up to 50 feet wide.  That's almost as big as Uncle Bob's fishing tale!
