SHE'S GOT GUMPTION

To have gumption is to have moxie, grit, courage...nerve.

I can remember this one Sunday when I was real young, being at my aunt's house with she & another aunt & somehow the conversation made it's way to Miss Sarah Beth McHenley, the prettiest lady in town.  My aunt made the comment, "Did you see the dress Sarah Beth wore to church?  My Lord-al-mighty that woman has gumption!"  and me, not knowing what gumption really meant, thought that it was what made Miss Sarah Beth McHenley so pretty & I sure wanted some of that when I grew up!  Yes please!

Well, I was way off base and looking back, I'd say it was my aunt who had gumption, pointing a finger at poor ol' Miss Sarah Beth McHenley considering those skin-tight britches my aunt wore to my little cousin's Christening that wound up splitting wide open right there in the church in front of God & everybody!
