PEARL

My Momma, Tricia, was a twin.  As the story goes, my grandfather was much older than my grandmother (close to 30 years older!), and he enjoyed 'lively spirits'  more than he should have & barely scraped up the $50 to pay the doctor to handle their delivery.  Now, we're talking back in the day before ultrasounds & micro-managed pregnancies.  The time comes when my Granny goes into labor & the doctor was fetched.  Much to everyone's surprise, it wasn't just one baby, but two!  My grandfather wound up in an argument with the doctor because the doctor tried collecting an additional $50 for the 2nd baby, but old grand-pappy was having none of it!  This wound up being a tongue-in-cheek joke between Momma & my uncle for many years...how 'cheap' my uncle was, to which he'd quip 'Oh yeah?  Well, Momma pays me to be good, but you're good for nothin'!'

Okay, I've gotten side-tracked, sorry guys.  They were so poor, they actually lived in what used to be called a 'Shanty-town'...basically what we know as old slave-quarters.  Well, Granny Hazel, for whatever reason, told the African-American lady who helped with the delivery that she could name the twins.  Watch out, world, Lutricia Pearl and Lorenzo Earl are now on the loose!  Yes, you heard that correctly, Lutricia Pearl & Lorenzo Earl!  Y'all, I simply can't even make this sh*t up, LoL!

So along comes this chunky mix and the 1st thing to pop in our minds was 'Pearl' because that is exactly what it looks like!

Here's a nod to the spirit of that old lady, long ago, who named the most pale of children, Pearl & Earl!
