The North uses "fussy" to describe someone who gets caught up in the smallest of details...someone who demands absolute perfection. In the South, we use the term 'persnickety',

I can still hear my Granny say - in reference to my cousin’s first girlfriend - "Well bless her pea-pickin' heart, she’s a persnickety one, isn’t she?" and it left no-doubt that Granny was none too fond of her!
